Where To Stay In Salento: Odra Suites & Viatorem Suites, Puglia
We’ve been coming back to these two Puglia stays for years, and for good reason. Our first visit to Viatorem Suites was back in 2020, and it instantly set the standard for what we now look for in southern Italy. Spotless rooms, modern touches, and locations that make you feel like you’ve somehow hacked the system. Since then, it’s become one of those places we recommend to friends without hesitation, and everyone who’s gone has come back singing their praises. Owned by the same hosts, these two locations feel one in the same however, it will come down to your location choice and how many people you are travelling with.
These properties are only a 30-minute drive apart, but they each provide an entirely different backdrop for your trip. Viatorem Suites sits right on the sands of Torre dell’Orso, one of the dreamiest beaches in all of Puglia…think turquoise shallows, perfect sand, and sunsets that make you rethink your life choices (in a good way). Odra Suites, on the other hand, puts you in the beating heart of Otranto, where cobbled streets spill into café-lined piazzas, medieval walls hug the coastline, and you’re spoiled for choice with places to eat, shop, and swim.
Neither one outshines the other; it just depends on your style. If your idea of perfect is stepping out the door and straight into the ocean, Viatorem will feel like paradise. If you love being in the heart of a charming town with endless places to explore, Odra is exactly where you’ll want to be.

THE ACCOMMODATIONS
Viatorem Suites – Torre dell’Orso
Just a two minute stroll from the beach of Torre dell’Orso, Viatorem Suites is all about modern comfort in a prime location. Each apartment is stylish and spotless, with a fully equipped kitchenette, air-conditioning, and a stylish bathroom!
The location is hard to beat with the beach on your doorstep, a few cafés and shops within minutes, and local landmarks like the Cave of Poetry (Grotta della Poesia) close by. The real highlight as always for us are the hosts - warm and welcoming who makes every stay feel personal.
Odra Suites – Otranto
Odra Suites is perfectly placed in the heart of Otranto, just a short, easy walk from the old town’s cafés, shops, and coastline. The apartments are bright, modern, and impeccably clean, with air-conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, and a very nice bathroom.
Even in the centre of town, the suites feel calm and private. Free private parking makes it easy to explore the surrounding area without any hassle. With its combination of location, comfort, and thoughtful touches, we absolutely loved it here for our stay in this area. Again, the same hosts as Viatorem - excellent and we love them!
The Locations
Otranto
Historic charm: Otranto’s old town is a maze of cobbled streets and sea views. Walking around feels like stepping back in time, with small artisan shops, local cafés, and gelaterias at every corner. Don’t miss the Otranto Cathedral, featuring a stunning mosaic floor, or the Aragonese Castle, offering a rich history and panoramic views.
Prime location for beaches: The town is right on the Adriatic, with rocky and sandy beaches all within walking or driving distance. You can swim, pay for a lido or just enjoy a sunset by the water without the crowds you find in the bigger coastal towns in Puglia.
Food: Otranto offers a mix of traditional Puglian trattorias and seafood restaurants, with fresh catches of the day and local wines. Heaven.
Torre dell’Orso
Beach heaven: Torre dell’Orso is famous for its long, soft sandy beach and blue water. It’s unbelievably beautiful, perfect for a day of swimming or sunbathing. Peak season, this area can be very busy! No need to drive anywhere, just walk 2 minutes from Viatorem Suites.
Location: Framed by pine forests and rocky cliffs, this area feels different to other parts of Puglia. A little more untouched yet locals know it’s magic.
Vibe: Torre dell’Orso feels less “town” and more beach village, making it perfect for those who want to spend most of their time on the beach.
Food: Despite being more relaxed than Otranto, the town has plenty of cafés and small restaurants within walking distance, so you’re never far from a local wine or a bite to eat.
So although this is just a quick look at two standout places to stay in Puglia. If you’re after accommodation that’s authentic, relaxed, in prime locations in the south of Puglia and great value, then these are impossible not to recommend.
