Review: NARDÒSALENTO, Puglia
I holiday in Puglia every year, and I hope that never changes. Somehow, Puglia has easily become one of the most important places in my life. There’s just nothing like it.
With travel, the thing I treasure most is the people I meet and, of course, the places I get to stay. I’ve been lucky to spend time in some of the most beautiful hotels and apartments, and NARDÒSALENTO is easily one of the best. I love architecture and design, mainly because I can’t do it myself (and wish I could), but I notice and appreciate every thoughtful detail and at NARDÒSALENTO, every single detail has been carefully curated.
Vincent De Cat and his team (Peter, we love you!) are behind these spaces, and they’re more than just talented designers and people - they’ve become friends. What Vincent has created in the heart of Nardò is inspiring. With six different properties to choose from, the properties are designed to cater to everyone - whether you’re a couple, a family, or a big group of friends.
So, let’s explore some of the different properties available!
Agrumeto
Agrumeto is a dream. A spacious two-bedroom garden house with a giant private garden, beautiful terraces, and even a plunge pool for cooling off in the summer heat. It’s peaceful, lush, and feels like your own hidden oasis right in the middle of town. We spent so much time outside here, moving between the garden, the terrace, and that little pool. It’s perfect for couples who want extra space or small families who want room to spread out.
Teatro
Teatro is ideal for 2–4 people, with a more intimate feel but just as much attention to detail. The rooftop here is another highlight and perfect for catching those golden sunsets with a glass of rosé in hand. It feels private yet connected, and like all the NARDÒSALENTO properties, you’ll find plenty of character in every room.
La Corte
La Corte is perfect for groups. Sleeping up to seven people, it’s great for families or friends traveling together. There’s a big living area, an outdoor terrace, and a rooftop with sweeping views. Every corner feels intentional and stylish, but still practical for everyday living. It’s a house you can actually live in comfortably for weeks, not just a place to crash between sightseeing. We loved mornings on the rooftop and evenings with wine out on the terrace. We personally had 7 people stay here last year celebrating my husbands birthday, it was amazing.
Bedroom Design
Across all of the properties, the design is simple, elegant, and thoughtful. Expect four-poster beds, vintage furniture, handmade curtains, and carefully curated details that make the spaces feel warm and authentic. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and I especially love that you get both a firm and a soft pillow (such a thoughtful touch). Air conditioning works beautifully in every property, which you’ll definitely appreciate in the Puglian summer.
Self catered luxury
One of the best parts of staying in a NARDÒSALENTO property is that each apartment comes with a full kitchen and everything you’d need to cook at home. We always head to the nearest grocery store on day one and stock up for our stay. Some of our favourite memories are cooking simple Italian meals and eating them on the rooftops, watching the sunset (before going out for gelato!)
It’s perfect for families who want the flexibility of eating in while kids are asleep, or for anyone who just wants to savour the gorgeous spaces without leaving. The team always leaves a welcome bottle of Schola Sarmenti Masserei rosé (one of the best wines you’ll ever try)!
The People
NARDÒSALENTO is as much about the people as it is about the design. Vincent is the genius interior designer behind these homes, and along with his incredible team, he’s created something really special. They’re not just hosts - they’re warm, generous, inspiring people who make you feel instantly welcome. We’re so grateful for their friendship and for the magic they’ve built here.
The Experience
What I love most is that staying with NARDÒSALENTO makes you feel like you’re part of Nardò itself. These aren’t isolated hotels; they’re beautifully designed homes right in the historic center. You wake up to the sound of church bells, wander cobbled streets for your morning espresso, and live like a local, but with the luxury and comfort of truly special spaces.
Nardò itself is perfectly located, just five miles from the Ionian Sea, where you can choose between some of the best beaches we’ve ever known. The town is full of amazing restaurants, bars, and wine, and it’s a short drive to Lecce, Gallipoli, Otranto, and more. Honestly, it’s the kind of place you come to once and know you’ll return to forever.
NARDÒSALENTO is more than a collection of properties; it’s a way of experiencing Puglia. Independent, stylish, and authentic, with every detail designed for comfort and beauty. Once you’ve stayed here, you’ll understand why I keep coming back.
